Committed to our employees and stakeholders by following our guiding principles of operational excellence

AV Terrace Bay is committed to our employees and stakeholders. We continue to build value for both groups following our guiding principles of operational excellence and streamlining production to adapt to changing market dynamics.

Located on the shores of Lake Superior, we’re a NBSK pulp mill producing over 330,000 tonnes annually. With over 360+ employees and $151 million invested over the last three years we are focused on moving ahead and responding to future market change.

WE'RE COMMITTED TO THE
PULP AND PAPER INUSTRY

We’ve been hard at work reinvesting and streamlining processes to ensure maximum value for our stakeholders, clients and strategic partners. By investing in health & safety, workforce training, new equipment, and technology. AV Terrace Bay is optimistic for the future.

In an effort to adapt to an ever-changing market and ensure long-term stability within the company, AV Terrace Bay has re-evaluated the dissolving grade pulp market and has decided to continue as a NBSK producing mill. The competitive challenges associated with the recent decline in DP market prices caused AV Terrace Bay to re-evaluate its conversion plan and concentrate on strengthening its sustainability in a global NBSK market.

Moving Forward: Creating our Future Together

The pulp industry has a long history in the town of Terrace Bay; the original pulp mill was built in 1947. After a period of instability, the Terrace Bay Mill became the third Canadian company to join the Aditya Birla Group’s pulp and fiber business (Grasim Industries Ltd.) in July 2012. On October 10th 2012, the Terrace Bay Mill successfully restarted production as a paper grade pulp mill.

In a constantly changing market, we are adapting for the future. We are setting goals, creating plans of action and analyzing results. We are moving forward on the strength of our successes and the hurdles overcome. We are developing the foundation for shared prosperity for what lies ahead.
